Senior Peer Counselling is able to provide support to Comox Valley seniors because of the incredible contingent of caring, generous volunteers who make this happen. We currently have more than 50 volunteers, most of them seniors, providing support to other seniors. They do this by visiting ‘their’ senior once each week for about an hour each time. In addition to this, the Support Groups for Caregivers we run are facilitated by volunteers, as is our Bowling Respite Program.
We also have volunteers who work with us on a short-term basis doing research and or short projects.
Our Board of Directors is a ‘working board’. This means they volunteer their time to help with reception and office tasks, keep the financials of the Society current, plan for new programs and evaluate the effectiveness of existing ones and, generally provide oversight and support for the daily operations of the Society.
The Society cannot operate without its volunteers and we are lucky to have so many really great people involved. If you would like to join us as a volunteer, give us a call at 250 871 5940 - we would love to hear from you.
